Happy new year! 새해 복 많이 받으세요~

This tuesday was Korean new year 설날 (Seollal). I did’t have any Seollal plans happening in here, but I bought some kimchi and Korean snacks for myself.

These days my blog posts might be little bit shorter because of work and studying, but I will keep going and include more photos! Let me share some photos from my Korean trip from 2017 in this post!

But let’s check my week first. 가자~

My week

Study

This week was great with good amount of study, writing a lot of notes, almost daily practice of TOPIK and got help from a friend for pronounce and planning on Kakao call. I think I should start writing some daily words to remember things better, example 5 new words a day.

Finally on wednesday I got my TOPIK course finished. It was good practice for the exam and I even got certificate of completion, which is always nice tiny motivator. Best part for me was particles and verb endings, I did learn a lot more about grammar and also reading about some study strategies were really useful for me.

I recommend www.topikguide.com for people who wants to take the TOPIK test!

Course contents:

  • Study Strategies
  • Test Paper Analysis
  • Particles
  • Verb Endings
  • Connectors
  • Download past TOPIK tests
certificate of completion for the preparation online course from Udemy
I made lot’s of notes this week

설날 (Seollal)

“is the first day of the Korean lunar calendar. It is one of the most important traditional Korean holidays.”

When I arrived in Korea in 2017 It was Seollal time, Seoul was empty. I did hear people saying “Seoul might be like ghost town at that time” and it kind a was, not completely but it was silent and there was not that many people what I saw after the Seollal ended. I think it was good time to arrive to Korea at the day of Seollal, because it was so calm and peaceful so it was really easy to start exploring the city. I also remember that it was really cold days in Korea at that time, sometimes the wind was super cold and It felt like home for me.

My Seollal experience was small, because I didn’t know anybody from Korea at that time, I was just a tourist seeing really big city sleeping, but someday I can have better Seollal experience, I can wait for that!

I did take a lots of photos when I was in Korea and I will start showing my photos more in this blog. Here is some from Seollal time from 2017
